Another side note is that you can melt sponge gold down into buttons using propane with charcoal. Borax glass is neccessary because it helps to make the gold bead purer by removing contaminations in the metal. The gold isn''t pure and is called dore'' (pronounced: doeray). Simply mix your ore with our Premixed Flux (nonleaded flux available for international salesobtain amp; add lead locally) in a Crucible. Place it in the Furnace. In an hour, pour the entire batch into the Pouring Mold. When it has cooled, break off the lead button that has formed. Place the lead button on a Cupel and back into the Furnace.
