SHANGHAI, Apr. 21 (SMM) Jinchuan''s laterite project in Indonesia is expected to complete construction by the end of 2018, according to SMM onsite survey. The project, jointly invested by Jinchuan Group and Indonesian company WP amp; RKA, broke ground on Nov. 25, 2016 in the Southeast Asian nation''s northern province of Maluku, marking Jinchuan''s entry into the nickel laterite industry.
Posted by Paul Moore on 7th November 2018 Outotec has signed a contract for the FrontEnd Engineering Design (FEED) of a new copper smelter to be located at Benete Bay in Sumbawa, Indonesia. The contract partner is PT Amman Mineral Industri, a subsidiary of copper and gold producer PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara.
There are more than 500 mining projects and operating properties making the country the most important mining country in the region. There are three large international mining companies with long term operating experience in Indonesia: Vale, Newmont amp; Freeport McMoRan. Many Canadian mining engineering and supply companies are entrenched in Indonesia.
The project was originally said to be targeted for completion in late 2016 although more recently a target date of 2018 has been mentioned. The project has support from the Japanese government and major Japanese construction firms have been showing interest in bidding for sections of the activity.
This desktop research provided a brief on mining legislation and policies in Indonesia, before and after the period of national and regional transition. The project aimed to identify current Indonesian regulatory frameworks/policies and analyse their implications for mining, Corporate Social Responsibility and community development and empowerment.
