The commercial way is with cyanide, but when assaying I would pulverise the quartz, place it in a retort with a 4 iron nail amp; a cup of oatmeal {other flours are acceptable assaying does not need to be glutenfree}. Place in a blast furnace, melt down, remove amp; allow to cool.

Dissolving gold in aqua regia would also work, but if there are a lot of silver mixed in then the dissolving might not go to as the grains get encrusted in silver chloride.

Now is the easy part. Once you have everything crushed down to fine texture, it is a simple matter of just panning out the contents. You will be left with just the gold. Now is when you will find out if your shiny rocks actually contain gold or not.
